Here at Lumitrix we know Matilda Temperley best for her portraits. Her captivating print, African Boy, is one of our best sellers, and we have recently added three more Fine Art prints from her Human Zoo series. Despite her outstanding work in the world of fashion, Matilda’s passion is documenting stories she considers important, and her main body of work has been inspired by marginalized societies from around the globe. Her new book, OMO – Change in the Valley, illustrates the beauty and diversity of the people living in the Omo Valley in Ethiopia. It also brings into focus the threat to their way of life caused by globalization.

“My career evolves in fits and starts as the ideas come and go,” says Matilda. “I would love to do a project on climate change, as it is one of the most important and far reaching topics of today. However, I haven’t found a good angle yet, or at least not one that I can afford to pursue.”

One angle might involve her love of flying. These shots, taken recently from a microlight over the Somerset coast, showcase Matilda’s vast and wide-ranging talents. The woman is an unstoppable tour-de-force. Whatever does come next we can guarantee it will be beautiful, bold and brilliant.
