Earthporn - Glacier lagoon 2

André Wagner

This ethereal image was shot in Iceland, and the inspiration was the mirroring of the beautiful glaciers in the lake, which has created a perfect symmetry.

Earthporn - Glacier Lagoon 2

Our Suggestion:

Suspend in a white box frame to draw the viewer's eye towards the magnificent iceberg.

A bit more on: André Wagner

André started out as a graffiti artist, which taught him the importance of colour, perspectives and form. His photography career kick-started when his photograph of graffiti was published by Schwarzkopf & Schwarzkopf and he won the Deutsche Jugend Fotopreis (German Photo Award for the Youth) in 2000, which included exhibitions at the Photokina in Cologne and in the Museum Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin. André still lives in Berlin and specializes in photographs of natural and metaphysical subjects.

Preferred Style

Quick Questions

What did you use to photograph these images?

Phase One IQ250, 55mm Nikon D800e, Hensel Porty 1200, 24-70mm, 70-200mm

What type of lighting do you use?

For the glacier photos I used natural light, for the cows in the shed I used portable Hensel studio lighting. In general I use all kinds of light, natural as well as artificial, to create my work. For my first landscape pictures (series "Romance of Elements“) I used the light of real fires.

Where did you grow up?

East Germany

Any accessories you can’t work without?

I just need a really good inspiration and I have to be in the mood to realize this idea. If that is not there then I won’t be able to work intensely.

Who are your artistic heroes?

Hieronymus Bosch, David LaChapelle, and many others. I like artists which have a look at metaphysical subjects. Also, nature in itself, as well as Time, with all its creative power.

What work are you most proud of?

"Fight“, "Harwood Hole“, "Torchlight“ and "Coming Back From Yamuna“. These works led to new inspiration and ideas for pictures.

What advice would you give younger photographers?

Trust your own ideas.
