Ellie Tsatsou is a Greek-born, London-based photographer & interdisciplinary artist whose work explores wonder, notions of home & intuition through the use of digital & analogue photography, film, editing & writing. Having been mentored by photographers Nick Knight (London, 2011/12) & Ryan McGinley (New York, 2013/14), her body of work draws references from the minimalism of her homeland’s philosophical cores & the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi. Ellie has exhibited in Greece, Tunisia and the United Kingdom and her photographs are part of private collections in Washington DC, New York, London, Athens and Paris.

This new collection of handmade cyanotypes from Ellie Tsatsou, focuses on auto-luminescent sources of energy. The series studies the light-sensitivity of her printing surfaces and the depth of her materials, producing results that float across the spectrum of cyan and blue. In partnership with the sun, Ellie Tsatsou strives to bring forth its vigour and grace. Visually, the works explore variations of the circular shape and consequently, the embedded notions of flow and continuity.
Title: a constellation carrying (2019)
External Size: 115 x 63 cm
Paper: Japanese Hatsuki 110 gsm
Please note that this is sold as a framed work
This work has been made using the cyanotype photographic process, which uses simple chemistry, light and water to produce a blue image. Autographic line drawings take the place of a photographic negative to create the final image. The cyanotype is created by hand and is unique. This gentle approach to printmaking comes hand in hand with the use of delicate Japanese paper.
The cyanotype is floated within the frame on a white background (mount board) as shown. Please note that as this is hand framed, that there may be a slight wave in the print within the frame which is a common occurrence when framing original prints.
The print is signed on the back by the artist and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
