James OgilvyOxfordshire
James Ogilvy (b. 1964) is a prominent landscape designer and photographer. He is known for evoking a unique sense of serenity across his oeuvre and has been published internationally. As a previous subject of revered photographers like Lord Snowdon, John Swannell, and Cecil Beaton, he was fortunate to have learned by observation as well as through his own practice.Inspired by the interface between land, sea, and sky, Ogilvy conceived the 'Thin Places' series when he learnt of the spirituality these hold. The six works are intended to be viewed both from afar and close-up in recognition of minute details like birds in flight. He always seeks to convey emotion and not only a view. Influences include photographers Hiroshi Sugimoto and Sebastião Salgado.
