Matilda Temperley Somerset, UK
Photographer Matilda Temperley’s work is inspired by marginalised societies. It regularly appears in international publications such as The Guardian, The Telegraph, Harpers Bazaar and National Geographic. Matilda’s sell out book, Under the Surface - Somerset Floods won the Royal Photographic Society’s Vic Odden Award in 2015. Her second book, Omo - Change in the Valley documents human rights abuses in Ethiopia. Her third book, The League of Exotic Dancers - Legends of American Burlesque has recently been published by Oxford University Press.Preferred Style
Romantic, classic, with an element of theatricality.
Preferred Camera
Normally a Canon 5d mark 2, but also a Nikon f3 35mm film camera for double exposures and some old medium format cameras for other personal work.
This sensual and arresting nude image is taken from the 'Human Zoo' series. Contemporary dancers were daubed in body paint and danced, free-style, whilst Matilda clicked away.
