Dettifoss

There may not be a better indicator of the power of time than powerful waterfalls. In this image, that rings particularly true. André's overexposed shot here is of the Dettifoss, a vast mass of water found in Northeast Iceland's Vatnajökull National Park. It's said to boast the strongest currents of any waterfall in Europe. A long exposure lens helps André depict the passage of time via this majestic site's roaring waters. As he himself notes, "Just as time cannot be stopped, a waterfall cannot be stopped." ...more

André Wagner Berlin, Germany

André started out as a graffiti artist, which taught him the importance of colour, perspectives and form. He is now represented by galleries around the world including the Hollis Taggart gallery in New York. André’s work is regularly shown in both solo and group exhibitions, and is also held in numerous public collections. In 2016 he won the Prix de la Photographie Paris. The Jökulsárlón Lagoon is perhaps the most popular natural attraction in Iceland. Nestled just a stone's throw away from the largest glacier in Europe, this natural wonder has mystified scores of visitors as well as photographers. André's take on this involves observing it from the perspective of time and transition. The ruggedness of the glaciers' beauty conveys its ever-shifting nature.
