Emilija Petrauskienė
Lithuania
Emilija Petrauskienė’s images are testaments to the value of patience. Born and currently residing in Lithuania, Emilija is a proponent of the time-consuming craft of analogue photography. Consequently, her process involves what most of us would consider an agonizing amount of waiting, prepping, and positioning - all of this, even before she finally captures an image. Emilija’s reverence for all things analogue is further evidenced by her use of a wet-collodion process, a photographic technique invented in 1850. A love for gardening and botanical prints also inspires her work.

An English rose, the universal symbol of romance, elegance and beauty. A favourite of the playwright William Shakespeare.
Please note that this photographic print is handcrafted by the artist in a photographic darkroom using an ancient wetplate colloidal technique. The end result is a silver print that has a similar finish to that of an engraving or lithograph. Due to the handmade nature of each print there may be a slight variation in tone, light or contrast between prints and to that seen on screen. All prints are created on Fomabrom 112 variant paper which gives a smooth matte surface.
