Quick Questions

Where do you live?

I live in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico but I was born and brought up in Guatemala.

Describe your work.

A combination of documentary style and fine art.

What has been your greatest inspiration?

My grandmother was an artist and as a young child I always really enjoyed creating things, whether through painting or ceramics, and then later photography. I find my inspiration in seeing the world as an open classroom, where I get to inquire, observe and learn through the process of documenting with my camera.

What did you use to photograph the images submitted to Lumitrix- camera make, lenses and lighting?

I used my 5D Mark III with a 50mm lens and natural lighting.

Any accessories you can’t work without?

No, I don’t use any accessories except for this series I used the insects that I collected. I like to keep my equipment very simple.

Who are your artistic heroes?

Luis Gonzales Palma is one of my absolute favourite photographers.

Favourite part of the job?

Every assignment is different, not one is the same. And I get to meet such interesting people.

Biggest challenge?

Learning to be adventurous, and to shoot differently from what already feels comfortable.

Secret ambition?

Learning old processes of photography. Living in Africa. And having my own chickens that lay eggs.
