Stefan MerriweatherLos Angeles, California
For Stefan Merriweather, there is equal merit in both spontaneity and preparation. His work is a study in the value of constantly being on the lookout for moments that are meant to be captured — always prepared for the spontaneous shot. And yet, as he himself will admit, Stefan’s best work seems to come through in a stage when he is least prepared for it. This isn’t all that difficult to believe, considering the sense of micro-fascination that comes with each of his shots. Beyond zooming in on physical qualities, Stefan’s fine art photography comes down to small visual pockets of time and space, taking viewers into an isolated interpretation of texture and colour — two details that intrigue Stefan. He’s an explorer, always open to the variety of imagery that his surroundings can offer up at any point in time. Along with being exhibited in venues such as the PS Zask Gallery, Stefan has also had his own solo exhibition, presented by Urban Outfitters and the Month of Photography Los Angeles.Preferred Style
Spontaneous, exploratory.
Preferred Camera
Canon 6d with a range of Sigma prime art lenses.
Placed upon an appropriately contrasting background, this shot by Stefan Merriweather is a study of emotive texture. Though merely a leaf, the image’s subject is coated in just enough light to show varying degrees of colour and shading.
